Smoketree Cottage is your base for exploring Joshua Tree National Park and the Mojave Desert. Our three-bedroom/two-bath home has been fully remodeled for your comfort and enjoyment. Smoketree Cottage boasts a fine collection of desert art, and is located next to the Old Schoolhouse Museum and the historic adobe 29 Palms Art Gallery.

From the Smoketree Cottage, you can walk to the Oasis of Mara at both the 29 Palms Inn and Joshua Tree National Park. Take a tour of the "Oasis of Murals," catch a real live drive-in movie, and be dazzled by our night skies at the nearby Sky's the Limit Observatory and Nature Center, then charge your EV while you sleep with our rapid charger.

Explore the Joshua Tree gateway communities, Route 66, or the national monuments, national preserves, private preserves, wilderness areas, and public lands nearby. Take a day trip to visit the wild burros along the Colorado River. Hike inside a volcano's crater. Follow in General Patton's tank tracks. Practice your draw at high noon on Mane Street in Hollywood's "Old West." Hike where cattle rustlers hid their stolen goods. Experience the art of a brilliant artist who got his start in the Watts Uprising. Or, just hike a silent canyon, slide down "singing" sand dunes, listen to the coyotes, look for turtles in the oasis pond, and be at peace. It's your adventure, after all.
